I Love Hong Kong Association's Single-Parent Family Care Program

The aim is to help low-income or social welfare recipients living in subdivided flats. Through home visits, we hope to get to know the families we help better, build mutual trust, understand their difficulties, assist them in applying for eligible government assistance or funding from other charitable organizations, and provide academic assistance to children from single-parent families.

beneficiaries

Families that meet the following conditions:

  1. Single parents (mothers), those who can only work for limited hours due to caring for their children, those with low income, and those who may need to apply for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance;

  2. Living in subdivided flats or public housing;

  3. They had no assets and no financial support from other family members;

  4. The children attend primary school.

Service Area

Yau Tsim Mong and Sham Shui Po districts

Nomination of beneficiary families

Families nominated by schools or community service organizations within the district, based on the aforementioned criteria for beneficiaries.

Assistance services

  1. Volunteers will visit the family to understand their background, basic monthly household expenses, current types and amounts of assistance, and assist them in applying for more suitable assistance if needed.

  2. Understand the mother's and children's other support needs, such as academic assistance for the children, providing tutoring or supplementary learning materials as needed;

  3. Scholarships and grants are provided to the families in need.

  4. Regular visits help establish connections with mothers, allowing them to feel cared for and strengthening their social relationships in an environment where they lack the resources to raise their children alone.

  5. Volunteers organize activities (family trips, holiday dinners, etc.) to allow the assisted families to participate.

Application Method

  1. Nominated by the school or community service organization;

  2. The applicant completes the application form, which is then submitted to this association by the nominee from the school or institution;

  3. The organization will review the application forms, and eligible applicants will be scheduled for a home visit to assess the details.
