Social Service - Mission

The I Love Hong Kong Association is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 by a group of people who love Hong Kong. The Association has always been concerned about the development and growth of children and teenagers. As early as 2010, it established the "I Love Hong Kong Social Service Team." In recent years, it has established scholarships to help outstanding teenagers from underprivileged families; it frequently organizes parent-child activities to allow families facing difficulties to experience more joy in life; and it has a support program specifically designed for single-parent families, hoping to alleviate their burden and help them become self-reliant.

Our association actively encourages grassroots individuals and youth to strive to create a better tomorrow, promotes moral education among young people, and encourages them to broaden their international perspective, enhance their understanding of major world political, social, and economic events, and their awareness of current international relations, so as to adapt to an increasingly internationalized Hong Kong society and cultivate more future leaders with a positive outlook on life. We love Hong Kong, a vibrant and opportunity-filled land of harmonious interpersonal relationships, inclusiveness, and positive striving. Hong Kong's achievements in economic, social, and other aspects are world-renowned, and we are proud of them.

"I Love Hong Kong Social Service Corps"

The "I Love Hong Kong Social Service Team" was officially established in March 2010, divided into two teams: a secondary school team and a university team. The organizing committee of the secondary school team is mainly composed of the winners of the "Ten Outstanding Young People" award each year. With their excellent leadership skills and rich volunteer experience, they lead junior secondary and primary school students to participate in various volunteer activities, allowing the new generation to experience the joy of giving more than receiving from an early age.

To promote good character and a spirit of service to the community among university students, the Association collaborated with New Asia College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, to establish the "CUHK New Asia College I Love Hong Kong Community Service Team" in 2011. This team encourages CUHK students to serve underprivileged communities, fostering closer relationships through service and communication, and promoting the spirit of love and care. By organizing activities for secondary school students, the team hopes to inspire and encourage young people to participate in and organize volunteer services, thereby helping underprivileged communities and cultivating a new generation of Hong Kong residents with the virtues of service to society and care for others.

Since its establishment, the CUHK student service team has participated in activities such as "Mid-Autumn Festival Fun" making mooncakes with ethnic minority children, "Children's Hearts and Hands" visiting special needs children at Fanling Community Health Centre, and the "New Arrivals Youth Mentorship Program," allowing university students to learn about social service work firsthand.

"Caring for Single-Parent Families Program"

Our primary focus is assisting low-income single-parent families or those receiving Social Security assistance and residing in subdivided flats. Through home visits, we aim to understand their current living conditions and difficulties, assisting them in applying for eligible government aid or funding from other charitable organizations. We also strive to understand the truly urgent needs of each family, providing direct, effective, and considerate assistance individually, and following up continuously to ensure they do not feel isolated and helpless. Furthermore, we provide academic support for children from single-parent families, such as providing tutoring as needed, funding necessary learning equipment, or even childcare services, hoping to allow children to grow up in a caring environment.

Nurturing talent is a societal responsibility; we must not allow capable and studious children to be overlooked due to economic difficulties. In 2019, our association launched the "Scholarship and Bursary Scheme" to encourage diligent study and cultivate good character among young people. Our association invites schools to nominate students from single-parent families who receive Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) or live in subdivided flats. The program primarily aims to provide substantial assistance to students from underprivileged families in the Yau Tsim Mong district. There is no limit to the number of times students can receive assistance. We hope they will persevere, strive for excellence, and gain admission to tertiary institutions, relying on their own abilities to escape poverty and create a better tomorrow.

In addition, various parent-child activities are organized, such as a "family-friendly buffet," allowing low-income families to enjoy a delicious buffet and participate in games together, spending happy family time, feeling the care of society, and having more wonderful holiday memories.

In addition, activities such as "sending mooncakes for Mid-Autumn Festival" and "sending New Year cakes for Lunar New Year" were held, and guided tours to the Legislative Council and the Hong Kong Museum of History, as well as a Noah's Ark family tour were arranged, all free of charge.
