Visiting the Legislative Council in 2023

Date: July 21, 2023 (Friday)

The I Love Hong Kong Association has arranged a very special parent-child activity for parents and children during the summer holidays – a visit to the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

This visit was arranged with the assistance of Legislative Councilor Leung Hei and his assistant. After entering the Legislative Council Hall, we were led around by staff from the Secretariat. It turns out that there is a replica of a legislator's seat in the Legislative Council Hall. The staff explained the operation of the council in great detail. There are also information on all the legislators in the hall, as well as historical pictures of the Legislative Council. The staff explained carefully, allowing the visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the historical background, functions, and contributions of the Legislative Council to Hong Kong.

Then we entered the public and press area, which is open to the general public. From there, we could see the members of the Legislative Council meeting below, and it was also the location for reporters to take photos. While most people see the Legislative Council members meeting on television, we were able to enter the chamber for a tour and take photos thanks to the arrangement of Legislative Council member Leung Hei. Everyone was very excited because it was a rare opportunity. Everyone took photos to commemorate the occasion and even vied to take a group photo with Legislative Council member Leung Hei in front of the podium.

Finally, everyone bought some souvenirs, and some families had lunch at a restaurant inside the Legislative Council building. Our event has now come to a successful conclusion.
