I Love Hong Kong Association 2024-25 Chinese Virtues "Courtesy" Drama Competition
1. Purpose
To help the younger generation gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of "etiquette" and recognize that "etiquette" means treating others with humility, respect for etiquette, and sincerity.
Through the form of drama, the creativity and enthusiasm of the younger generation are brought together, encouraging them to think about how to integrate the spirit of "etiquette" into modern life and to show respect and tolerance for others in their words and deeds.
2. Theme: Etiquette
"Li" (礼), as one of the core values of Chinese culture, embodies the wisdom of harmonious coexistence among people.
In the past, "etiquette" was reflected in various aspects such as the relationship between ruler and subject and interactions between friends, emphasizing respect for order and hierarchy. Nowadays, "etiquette" focuses more on equal treatment and mutual respect between people, not limited to traditional bowing and greetings, but also on learning to cultivate both inner and outer qualities. Outwardly, one should be polite and proper, and inwardly, one should treat others with a sincere and kind heart.
Mencius said: "Respectful deference and courtesy are the proper things to do."
"Courtesy" refers to having respect, humility, and courtesy; abiding by rules and regulations; being polite; not being willful; valuing harmony; and fostering harmonious relationships among people, which in turn leads to a harmonious and progressive society. We should practice the spirit of "courtesy" in our daily lives, demonstrating our upbringing and character in the details of life, and becoming truly courteous modern individuals.
